Monday showed all its colors from blowing rain to pockets of sun and everything in between.
The only consistency: a stiff wind that tested the ability of Battle Creek golfers to guide their shots in the right direction.
Battle Creek weathered it all well and defended its home court but for a difference of two strokes between the Bravettes and West Holt. West Holt’s 380 just beat out Battle Creek’s 382.
Makenna Hughes turned in another great performance, shooting even rounds to finish with a 92 and take a tie for third place alongside West Point-Beemer’s Molli Miller.
Two of the Braves finished with identical scores of 96, both improving on their second rounds to reach just 96. Addy Carstens improved from a 49 to a 47, while McKailey Holecek shaved four strokes off and got his best round with a 46.
Rounding out the Battle Creek medalists as well as the top ten, Lacey Kuchar took a 98 with a four-stroke improvement in the back nine.
Danica Jensen golfed her best round of 50 in a tie for 20th. Aria Hoehne golfed eight strokes better between rounds, and Mikayla Hughes shaved a stroke off in the back nine.
