Elkhorn Valley’s trio of golfers teed up for the first meet of September on Thursday, back in action at the West Holt Invite.

While not running like cross country athletes or putting the pads on for football practice, the extreme heat of Thursday also affected play on the golf course and kept the need for constant hydration and shade cover constant.

The Falcons overcame the challenges of golfing on such a hot day. Delilah Qualset led the girls in green, putting together a final score of 128, never hitting double-digit strokes in the front nine of her outing. She also scored fours on four separate occasions, including twice in three holes. The score slotted her into 33rd place.

Ellie Garrison finished with a final tally of 155, but a five on Hole 11 was the highlight of an improved go through the back nine. She dropped seven strokes off her first trip through the course.

Ruby Durre placed in 49th with a score of 162, playing a consistent game with 81s through both trips out.

The Falcons will take the course for Thursday’s dual with Humphrey before headed to the Pierce Invite on Saturday.
