Battle Creek took the course in West Holt on one of the hottest days of competition of the year.

And the Braves remained undeterred, putting together a team runner-up worthy performance with its top three girls making the top ten.

West Holt won its home invite with a score of 366, but the Braves came in second by scoring 400, defeating teams from Valentine and O’Neill.

Makenna Hughes turned in a 96, though her back nine contained one of the best runs of the invite with four four-stroke holes and a three-stroke finish on 15.

Hughes’ fourth-place finish was followed right behind by Lacey Kuchar, who scored a 99 with his best score coming with a 49 on the front nine.

McKailey Holecek rounded out the Braves making the top ten with an eighth-place score of 100. A tenstroke improvement on the back nine clinched her spot for a medal. Addy Carstens scored a 105 for 12th place to also pick up a medal.
